Good day

Today, I found out that I picked up a sponsorship from Bear Naked. That is cool. I will keep you posted on what happens with them. To celebrate, I ran from my new awesome house, along Boulder Creek, into Boulder Canyon. Then I came home to have chips and salsa. My roommate's mom makes salsa and jam. Well that is what I have tried so far.

Cheap camping.

Alright my faithful followers, it has been a while. With the new tattoo came a whole lot of nothing. No going in the sun, or the pool, or anywhere fun. So instead I have been working. It hasn't been bad, however. It has enabled me to acquire a couple of things that I have wanted for the future. The first purchase was an ultralight sleeping bag (.79 kilos).

A few days later, I thrilled myself with an ultralight tent. This is the REI Quarterdome T2. 1.87 kilos. I am ready for New Zealand. Or at least Copper Triangle ride this weekend.
I just heard that it is supposed to be 102 degrees this weekend. I am glad to be going with the Rudy guys to Copper this weekend.

I am often asked how I afford to do the things I do. I learned a lot from Kurt, but this Ken Rockwell article sums it up well. I moved into a new apartment which is awesome. Great roommate and great location. There will be pics of my surroundings soon.

Why do we do this?

Thanks to Krysta at Scarred For Life. I like the way this looks. Now I just need a few more sessions to finish one side of my body. Then I can start work on the other side. I also got a sleeping bag this morning. With camping on the horizon, I am having trouble not buying a ton of equipment all at one time. Luckily, the tent that I want is out of stock at the store. While camping in Chile, I learned the importance of having good camping gear. I was caught in the rain and snow with non water proof and non weatherproof gear more than once. Never again. Especially with New Zealand's unpredictable weather.
With indoor soccer finished for the season, I now have more time to work, fish, hike, camp, swim, bike, and run. Or post boring blogs...

movie and nerdy things

I went to the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight". I enjoy getting to the theater early to see all the people dressed like characters from the movie. Last time I went to Star Wars 10 hours before the show to assure good seats. For the Dark Knight, I went and bought tickets the day before and was at the theater only two and a half hours before the movie began. There was nobody there yet. The lines were set up, security was in full force, and 20 managers in suits were making sure that everything went smoothly. I just sat by myself reading a book waiting for something to happen. When I decided to go into the theater, they gave me a choice of 5 different rooms. I found the empty one.
The movie was good. It was long, but entertaining. On a geekier note, Time.com has a list of the 11 best iPhone apps. I agree with them. So far, Pandora, Midomi, and Remote are my favorites. A great time waster is Scribble. I have made masterpieces like this with it.

My bike has been tuned up and the derailleur cables replaced. I bought new shoes (Shimano TR30) and cleats (Look Delta). Time to throw on my old Hammer Nutrition tri shorts, some old tshirt (no jerseys yet) and go for a ride. I did a short (4 mile) run this morning, swam 2400 meters after lunch, now I am going to eat (again) and go for my first ride in about a year. Does that constitute as my first tri?

**Later that day**
I hate the person that told me to ride to Jamestown. It was a beautiful ride, but I like to complain and I haven't been on a bicycle in a very long time. After about 10 minutes, my legs were burning. After 30 minutes, I was shot, spent, done, wasted after just half an hour. Then the beauty of the surroundings got the better of me an dI just looked around and didn't worry that my legs were numb. Just after an hour I made it to Jamestown. What a beautiful town of 205 people. I will be back.
